AUTHOR GUIDELINES
1. Acta Scientiae publishes the scientific and academic production on education in the science and mathematics education area, as well as the debate related to educational issues in dialogue with other areas.
2. Papers submitted for publication must be unpublished (not previously published, except as preprints in repositories such as arXiv, ResearchGate, SSRN, etc.) and anti-plagiarism software is used for verification. They also should not have been submitted simultaneously to another publication, in print or electronic media, nor should it be one of several similar and/or less relevant manuscripts, based on the same research ("salami-slicing" of publications). However, Acta Scientiae reserves the right not to publish more than one article by the same author and/or co-author by edition (volume).
3. Acta Scientiae publishes works in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Acta Scientiae does not charge article processing charges (APC) or submission charges. However, a $ 150.00 fee will be charged for registering the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) with agencies. From the first edition of 2019, Acta Scientiae started being published in English and, therefore, all articles submitted in another language, if accepted, are asked to provide an English version to be published jointly. In addition, Acta Scientiae started giving priority to publishing works resulting from research in international partnership.
4. Regarding the modality, the magazine publishes:
Original and revision articles, understood as scientific research papers necessarily addressing central issues in the area of Science and Mathematics Education, duly based on the theoretical frameworks consecrated in the scientific literature of that area, including 'state of the art', methodology, and explicit research question (both for empirical and theoretical research works) and result in a internationally relevant contribution, compared to previous studies, to scientific knowledge in the area of Science and Mathematics Teaching ('merely descriptive texts', 'essays', 'projects', 'proposals', 'literature reviews', 'states of knowledge', 'experience reports' and the like are not accepted);
Critical reviews of works related to this area (Theses and books), provided they bring new knowledge beyond the simple summary of the work.
NOTE: Articles derived from works presented at scientific events, even if published in the form of a summary or extended abstract in the respective annals, may be submitted, provided that they constitute a more complete, revised and more detailed version than the one presented at the events. Information that a draft has been submitted and published in conference proceedings should be included. However, the fact of having been presented in a scientific event does not guarantee that the article will necessarily be approved.
5. PUBLICATION
5.1 ACTA SCIENTIAE performs a double-blind, two-stage peer review: initially an editor is appointed, who evaluates the work received and assesses its suitability for the journal's editorial line and its potential for publication; If approved, it is anonymised and submitted to a process, coordinated by the editor, for review by up to two anonymous expert reviewers. In case of disagreement between their opinions, the work is sent to a third referee for the tiebreaker. This process can result in one of three situations: a) acceptance without modifications; b) return to the authors, with suggestions for modification; c) refusal. The Editorial Board holds the power of the final decision. Authors can follow the steps of the process of evaluation and preparation of the works.
5.2 Authors will be informed, through electronic correspondence, of the acceptance or rejection of their articles. The Editorial Committee is not responsible for the spelling, linguistic and bibliographical revision of the work. However, the high quality of the languages used in the texts is a matter for the approval of the work, being the responsibility of the author the necessary revisions.
5.3 If there is a need to change the content of the text, it will be suggested to the author to do it, and its return is expected within two weeks; Failure to comply with this item may result in non-publication of the article.
5.4 The opinions expressed in this article are those of the authors.
6. SUBMISSION
